The opportunity
As a Controller, you are responsible for preparing, analyzing and controlling the financial results of the various local entities.
You can switch quickly between various tasks, and set the right priorities. You manage your workload in a correct and timely matter. You are transparent, and communicate often and open. You like a dynamic environment where no day is the same. In addition, you are actively involved in the business.
Your activities include:
– Functionally managing the financial administration of the relevant entities
– Prepare and check internal reports on a monthly / annual basis
– Preparing budgets/outlooks
– Preparing and check cost price forecasts
– Maintaining balance sheet- and permanent files
– Being point of contact for various local bookkeepers
– Preparation of the external audits
– Correct VAT return/tax
– Contributing to various ad hoc business projects
– Creating (financial) transparency internally as well as externally
Candidate profile
• Studied Accountancy or Business Economics
• Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience gained in business or in audit practice at an accounting firm.
• Energetic and “can do” mentality
• Practical attitude, strong communication skills and pro-active, no-nonsense mentality
• Accurate, good analytical skills, independent, flexible, team player
• Process thinker
• Eager to travel on a frequent basis
• Decisive personality who is not afraid to approach people and who can deal with resistance
• Knowledge of IT, preferably Office 365, MS Axapta 2012, Atlas XL, consolidation software Oracle HFM and MS Office (Excel)
• Proven knowledge and experience of / with Dutch (tax) laws and regulations
• Speaks and writes Dutch fluently (native speaker)
Department
The finance team consists of approximately 35 people and is led by our CFO. The entities have their own local finance experts. A number of colleagues also work at Holding level. The Controller will be working from the Bontrup headquarters in Amsterdam (Westpoort). At least twice per month the Controller will be working from Antwerp Stone Terminal located in Antwerp. At least once a month the Controller will fly to Bremanger Quarry in Norway. The controller will work with (local) Assistant Controllers, Bookkeepers and Group Controllers. The Controller will be reporting to the CFO.
