BONTRUP Dairy

Roots in dairy

At age of 12 Franz Bontrup was helping his father to transport milk from his farm to dairy factories across the Netherlands. He was one of the first to switch from milk cans to milk tank transportation, resulting in a more efficient supply chain with a more profitable business. Dairy is deeply rooted in the BONTRUP family business.

From East to West

As part of the BONTRUP family of companies, United Dairy Group is active in dairy farming in the United States of America and operates farms in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. More than 7000 cows produce more than 100 million liters per annum.

In addition to the dairy farms in the US, BONTRUP also operates a large dairy farm in the Ukraine, close to its agriculture farms. This allows harvested crops to be used for feedstock, and the manure is used to make the soil more fruitful.

Animal welfare

Animal welfare is a top priority for BONTRUP’s Dairy business. Responsible business operations start with ensuring a pleasant living environment for the cows, heifers and calves. Following this, making the right choice for nutrition is crucial. In close cooperation with local parties, the right crops are grown, with natural manure restoring soil fertility.

Scale and synergy

Using the most modern techniques, and due to the scale and synergy of the companies, it is possible to produce the best quality milk in a responsible manner.
