Vado Ligure breakwater – Italy

On behalf of the Joint-Venture Fincosit and Finantieri, Bontrup Logistics transported more than 400,000 tons of quarry run from Porto Torres (Sardinia) to Vado Ligure, for the construction of the new breakwater. The stone was transported with the special self-unloading bulk carrier Bontrup Pearl. The specially designed rock grabs allowed the vessel to unload the material directly into the footprint of the new breakwater while anchored next to the existing structure. As a result, no additional re-handling was required and the work proceeded quickly and efficiently.
