Thor offshore wind farm - rock for scour protection

For the Thor Offshore Wind Farm in the Danish North Sea, Bontrup Logistics is supplying a specially produced armour rock grading from Larvik Rock Quarries to Jan De Nul. Thor OWF is being built for RWE and, with a planned capacity of over 1,000 MW, will become Denmark's largest offshore wind farm. Starting in 2027, it will supply green power to more than one million households.

Jan De Nul is responsible for installing the monopiles and constructing the erosion protection around the foundations and marine cables. For this critical work, Bontrup Logistics supplies a special rock grade of 15/120 kg.

The armourstone is produced by Larvik Rock Quarries and loaded directly into Jan De Nul's Daniel Bernoulli fallpipe vessel at Larvik's Svartebukt port. Thanks to the consistent quality of Larvik rock, a strong foundation is being created for this large-scale offshore wind farm.
