300,000 tons of rail ballast for Tren Maya Mexico

Bontrup supplied more than 300,000 ton railway ballast for the construction of the Tren Maya project in Mexico, a new 1,500 km long rail link on the Yucatán Peninsula.

To meet the high quality requirements, the track ballast was produced by Graniet Import Benelux in Amsterdam, based on high-qualityaggregates granite. The material was transported to Mexico in large self-unloading seagoing vessels and unloaded directly into trucks in Puerto Progreso for further transport to the work site.
