Princess Elisabeth Island - Belgium

For the construction of the Princess Elisabeth Island in the Belgian North Sea, Bontrup Logistics supplied more than 500,000 tons special offshore grade, custom-produced at Bremanger Quarry for the foundations of the concrete caissons. The entire delivery was completed within just seven weeks.

The material was transferred ship-to-ship at Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam onto Jan De Nul's Simon Stevin and DEME's Flintstone fallpipe vessels. Thanks to this efficient transshipment and tight logistical planning, the contractors always had the right material on time for the offshore installation works.

Once completed, the artificial energy island, located 45 kilometers off the Belgian coast, will serve as an electricity hub. It connects the export cables from offshore wind farms, serves as a hub for grids in other European countries, and provides a safe platform for the repair and maintenance of offshore installations.
