New terminal – Port of Tilbury

For the development of a new terminal at Port of Tilbury, Bontrup supplied more than 350,000 tons of Bestone® Type 1 sub-base material. Following completion of this project, Bontrup continued supplying Bestone® Type 1 and 6F5 (0/125 mm) to Tarmac, for the development of their own site at Tilbury 2.

Bestone® is sourced from Bremanger Quarry in Norway. Bestone® is characterized by its exceptional homogeneity, hardness, wear resistance and skid resistance. Bestone sub-base is produced in various grades, such as 0/40, Type 1 and 6F5. These products are characterized by their continuous grading and angularity, resulting in excellent compaction, strength and stiffness; ideal for heavily loaded foundations.
