Foundation jack-up platform Le Havre - France

Special offshore rock
For the construction of the Siemens Gamesa plant for wind turbines in Le Havre, Bontrup supplied and installed a coarse offshore grading for the foundation of large offshore jack-up crane vessels. These foundations must withstand the enormous forces from the jack-up vessels' legs.

For this project, commissioned by DEME, offshore grade 63/180 mm was produced at Bremanger Quarry. The stone was installed in a 4 to 8 meter thick foundation layer in front of the renovated Joannes Couvert quay.

Direct placement
The material was placed directly from Bontrup's self-unloading vessels, by continuously rotating the ship's belt while the vessel shifted position according to a predetermined pattern. The placement was carefully planned and executed in close cooperation with DEME and their survey team.

DEME project manager Charlotte Heirbaut:
"We were very happy with the way it all worked out. Professional crew, good planning and precise dumping."
