New asphalt F1 circuit Zandvoort

For the renovation of Zandvoort Circuit ahead of the return of Formula 1 in 2020, Graniet Import Amsterdam supplied Bestone® aggregates for the new asphalt top layer. Bestone® was used in the high-quality, high-grip asphalt mixture used by KWS - part of VolkerWessels - to resurface the circuit.

KWS was responsible for the resurfacing of over 50% of the circuit's wearing course, including the construction of the iconic curves with cross slopes of up to 32%. Bestone® was chosen for the production of the F1-circuit asphalt because of its homogeneity, hardness and excellent skid resistance - essential for maximum grip, predictable handling and safety at high speeds.

The work was part of the accelerated renovation of the entire circuit and surrounding infrastructure, which was made ready for the "Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix" in just a few months.
