A12 & A44 Highways - Sustainable maintenance – Van Gelder

Contractor Van Gelder is carrying out major maintenance works on the A12  and A44  highways for Rijkswaterstaat (part of the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management). This involves repairs to structures and replacement of asphalt layers, crucial to ensure the flow and lifespan of these traffic arteries.

A mix of circular and new asphalt mixtures is being used to create road pavements with a longer lifespan and lower environmental impact. For this project, Graniet Import Amsterdam supplies the high-quality Bestone® aggregate - known for its homogeneity, hardness and skid resistance - in different fractions. The aggregates are delivered by barge to the asphalt plants and used in high-end asphalt mixtures specifically designed for these heavily trafficked highways: from binder course to ZOAB surface layers.
