Efficient transportation with minimal impact
Bontrup Logistics transports more than 12 million tons of stone annually to terminals and project sites worldwide. Our dedicated logistics team works continuously to optimize routes, fuel consumption and fleet performance, with one goal: to achieve the most efficient and sustainable maritime supply chain.
Self-unloading bulk carriers
All our bulk vessels are self-unloading: specially converted bulk carriers that unload material directly from the holds onto the quay or into another vessel via an integrated belt system. This system is designed to unload cargoes quickly and completely independently, up to a great distance from the ship, without the use of port cranes and equipment. This saves both time and fuel.
Reduction of fuel consumption and emissions
Our vessels operate at low speed (Ecospeed), reducing fuel consumption and emissions. Through advanced route planning, based on actual weather forecasts, currents and wave direction, we always determine the most efficient sailing routes. In addition, the hull is regularly cleaned, reducing drag and further increasing propulsion efficiency.
Technical innovations for clean propulsion
Together with our partner SMT Shipping, we are constantly investing in new technologies to make the fleet more sustainable. Our vessels are equipped with:
- Propeller Boss Cap Fins (PBCF) - an innovative energy-saving system consisting of small fins on the propeller cap that convert vortices into additional thrust. This saves fuel and reduces vibration and noise;
- Special propeller coatings that reduce friction and optimize propulsion;
- Real-time sensors that monitor fuel consumption and emissions so we can make targeted improvements.
Cleaner fuels
Where possible, we deploy biofuels to further reduce our emissions. In addition, Bontrup Logistics is testing fuel additives that make combustion more efficient and further reduce emission intensity.
