Thousandth release BontrupYeoman Bridge

Bontrup Logistics more than 12 million tons of stone to terminals and project locations worldwide every year. More than 5 million tons of that cargo arrives at Graniet Import Benelux. This is partly thanks to the Yeoman Bridge, which recently completed its 1000th unloading in the Port of Amsterdam. The 30-strong crew of the self-unloading bulk carrier celebrated this milestone with cake.

Bridge (1991) transports 55,000 stone at a time from Graniet Import Benelux in Amsterdam or Antwerp Stone Terminal Port of Antwerp-Bruges. This is usually Bestone® its own Bremanger Quarry Scottish granite from Glensanda. The ship is 250 meters long and has a maximum draft of 15 meters.

The strength of ships such as the Yeoman Bridge and the rest of the deep sea fleet is that they are self-unloading; specially converted bulk carriers that unload the material directly from the hold onto the quay via an integrated belt system. This can be done at a considerable distance from the ship, without the use of harbor cranes and equipment. This saves both time and fuel.
