The world's largest source of limestone, dolomite and gabbro
In the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah (United Arab Emirates), Stevin Rock operates the largest and most modern quarries in the world. Together they have a production capacity of more than 80 million tons per year and reserves of more than 4.5 billion tons of high-quality natural stone.
The quarries produce different rock types for a variety of uses: limestone from Khor Khuwair, dolomite from Al Ghail and high-density gabbro from Kadra. The quarries are equipped with modern technology and state-of-the-art laboratories. Quality is independently tested and meets international standards such as EN, ASTM, CIRIA and British Standards.
Strategic location
The main quarry (Khor Khuwair) is located right next to Saqr Port, one of the largest bulk ports in the Gulf region. Through two new 18-meter-deep wharves and eight existing Panamax berths, tens of millions of tons of rock are shipped annually. This infrastructure allows Stevin Rock to load products directly from the quarry onto barges and vessels.
Cooperation
Bontrup has been working closely with Stevin Rock for years, to produce and deliver armour rock for international projects. Using large self-unloading bulk carriers, we deliver these materials efficiently and reliably, even to remote locations. A recent example is the delivery of approximately 80,000 tons of heavy rock armour for a coastal defense project in the Marshall Islands (Indo-Pacific). This collaboration illustrates the operational scale, logistical strength and global reach of both companies.
