Sand-lime bricks

Bestone® 0/2mm sand is particularly suitable as aggregate for sand-lime (calcium silicate) bricks thanks to its unique properties. The crushed sand is hard, angular and has a continuous grain size distribution, providing exceptional compaction.

Dense grain matrix
The light-colored rock from Bremanger quarry is naturally very homogeneous, resulting in constant material properties. The angular particle shape and optimal grading create a dense grain matrix of the sand-lime mixture. This promotes strength development both in the initial phase and in the finished product. Already in the uncured phase there is a higher interlocking ("green strength"), resulting in less failure during block forming. The hardened product also reaches a higher final strength, allowing higher buildings.

Sound insulating
The continuous grain size distribution also results in a higher volumetric mass of the element. This contributes directly to the sound insulation of sand-lime brick walls.
